The myths of entrepreneurism abound
26th September 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Seminar with San Francisco investor and serial entrepreneur Will Bunker and Level39 mentor Rebecca Homkes.
The myths of entrepreneurism abound – an aspiring founder, the great inspiration and the subsequent scaling with a fail fast mentality. It’s time to debunk these myths and discuss lessons you can apply to your current (or future companies).
During this session, we will do so with Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor Will Bunker along with Level39 Mentor Rebecca Homkes. Bunker will discuss his journey to a tech founder, the ideation, growth, scaling and exit of match.com, and what he and his fellow investors are looking for in tomorrow’s potential disrupters.
Bunker didn’t want to wait for the magic moment, so he developed an approach to methodically search for better ideas; understand how new technologies could disrupt sleepy industries; and apply structured approaches to innovation. He’ll explore these in the first part.
In the second half, they’ll debunk the startup myths of scaling and growth. Bunker will discuss the growing pains he overcame in scaling one-and-only (which became match.com) and how to proactively address these in your company. We’ll explore how to build an experimentation engine to rigorously test assumptions and incorporate the learnings into your growth.
Wrapping up by looking at what’s next, as well as what he and his fellow partners are looking for in their investments. Time reserved for Q&A.
