L39 member Authlete secures partnership and $3m pre-series A investment
15th February 2018

Level39 high-growth Japanese member Authlete has announced today the closing of a pre-series A funding round raising $3m investment from Toppan Printing, NTT Docomo Ventures and MTI.
The investment will help Authlete push its solution worldwide through sales and marketing – driving the uptake of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect solutions around the world.
OAuth is the technology which underpins the sharing of data between services online. It’s the same technology which allows you to use your Google login to access other non-Google services around the web, as one example.
Mr. Takahiko Kawasaki, the Co-Founder and Representative Director of Authlete, said: “I’m very happy our team and technology has received so much trust from our partners Toppan, MTI and NTT DOCOMO Ventures. We look forward to building our relationship, current and new, to ensure the public and partners benefit from the API economy”.
Mr Hiroshi Izumi, Executive Vice President at MTI said: “At MTI, we have been using Authlete as a key infrastructure service since 2016 for our healthcare services LUNA LUNA and CARADA. We will be expanding the use of Authlete for other services at MTI. At MTI we are putting strength into FinTech. With Authlete’s trust in the financial sector, Authlete will enable us to offer new and secure FinTech services. We position Authlete as an important strategic partner company”.
