Chris Hickman

Chris is a Managing Director at HSBC, one of the largest global financial institutions.  With over 15 years of financial services experience that combines business strategy, innovation and commercial banking (B2B segment), Chris is not a traditional banking executive.  His experiences have crafted a different perspective on addressing customer opportunities as well as devising practical strategies, building successful teams and cultures, and balancing purpose with commercial ambition.

Chris was one of the ‘co-founders’ of a new HSBC venture that seeks to better serve the platform economy and small businesses within it.  He was responsible for Proposition Development, Partnerships and Strategy where he enjoyed challenging the status quo inside and outside HSBC, and developing new concepts to bring to market.

Prior, Chris was the Global Head of Strategy and Chief of Staff for Commercial Banking where he advised and executed business strategy with both the current and former CEO.   He led innovation activities including the division’s sustainability agenda where Chris developed and executed a growth strategy designed to finance and support customers achieve their ESG goals.

Chris is well regarded as a thought leader, advisor and coach to executives, and is keen to pay forward the support and guidance he has received.  He believes in levelling the playing field for smaller businesses and mentorship is one avenue he pursues.  Chris can support you with business strategy, storytelling, working with large organisations, people and culture, or just helping you to think differently.
