Gavin Phillips has 22 years’ experience in Public Equity markets – running risk, managing, motivating teams, and building Equity businesses on both the buy and sell side at Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank, Nomura International, Jefferies International and King Street Capital Management. He now spends his time advising companies across the ESG and Fintech space and is currently Head of EMEA Institutional Sales for Galaxy Digital, a leading blockchain, crypto and digital asset service provider.
As a Managing Director on the sell side Gavin has run individual proprietary trading books as well as been responsible for desk P&L. He has led trading and sales trading teams and been responsible for production, recruitment, proprietary and client risk. Gavin has been part of European Executive Committees responsible for overall business Strategy.
At King Street Capital, a US-based circa $20bn AuM L/S event hedge fund., Gavin has led the build out of the European Equity book responsible for idea generation, trading, risk management whilst introducing new products and building relationships across the street. He has traded Equity cash, derivatives, delta 1 as well as Convertible Bonds, FX, Rates and Commodities.
Gavin has built up a close network of successful industry participants across investment bank, finance and now fintech product areas including hedge funds, sovereign wealth, and asset management firms. Gavin has a forward-looking style, anticipating market trends, identifying inflection points, and sifting ideas to pick winners in tandem with a logical business growth mindset.
