Mark Ledwards

In my most recent permanent role (up to May 2018) I ran the sell-side division at Algomi, a 6-year old FinTech company based in London, which grew through start-up/early-stage to high-growth/scale-up in the time I was there.

I was responsible for our product suite at a range of 20 large client investment banks.  I led the strategic business planning and target-setting decisions for my team (45 people) comprising Server Dev teams, QA, GUI Dev, Sales & CRM and Project Management.

During my time at Algomi, I was also a ‘hands-on’ salesperson, leading and closing a Joint Venture partnership deal with a major European exchange to establish a pan-European Fixed Income trading MTF.  I negotiated and closed a global licence extension to this initiative, which will lead to the creation of an ATS to be launched in the US in June 2018 and a potential partnership with an APAC exchange, delivering bond connectivity to the Chinese market. This deal increased Algomi’s existing revenue by 6x and the predicted ARR was an increase of 20x.

I led an initiative to add global custodian clients  to the platform, meaning that for the first time, bond holdings information could be made available for enquiry from dealers.

I was a board attendee, helping to formulate company strategy, reporting as a business head to our VC investors and to our strategic global investors. I was also appointed as a Director of the JV vehicle to manage the commercial relationship.

Before Algomi, I served as a Fixed Income structured products sales specialist at investment banks (Nomura & Bear Stearns) and at two smaller boutique investment firms.  During my career, I have sold to Family Offices, SWFs, Asset Managers, Exchanges and Capital Markets C-Suite decision makers.

Prior to my career in Financial Markets, I was an officer in the British Army, where I served for 7 years in Norway, Cyprus, Oman and Germany.

I left Algomi in May last year and since then I have been privately advising two start-ups on their sales or ‘go-to-market’ strategies.

I am currently working at the London Stock Exchange to help sell their Fixed Income product set.

I love the sales process, growing team cultures, setting and implementing strategy and how to create and manage long-term partnerships.  I had the most rewarding years in my working life in the start-up world and I’d be delighted to help any small teams who are facing challenges in their B2B sales strategies.
