Vaggelis Makris has about 20 years of experience in Financial Technology as Investor, Strategist, Investment Banker & Consultant. He now helps seed/Series A+ fintech startups to connect with investors, co-create value & reach their full potential as Managing Director at FT Intel.
Vaggelis has a diverse & global deal experience – in UK/EMEA, but also in Americas/Asia – as a principal investor and advisor on early stage investments, growth investments/M&A, post investment management and exits (IPOs & trade sales). He has managed investments and assignments across all B2C/B2B Fintech verticals: payments, banking, alternative finance, Wealthtech, Insurtech and Regtech.
A Canary Wharf business resident during 2008-2018 – at Credit Suisse and at HSBC Corporate Development – he has followed Level39 and collaborated with its members since its inception retaining his interest and dialogue with Level39 community, despite his move to nearby Tower Hill, to lead Fintech VC investments for Fosun, the Chinese investment group (2018-2020). Originally from Greece, he calls London home since 2006 (when he moved for his MBA at London Business School). Beyond Fintech, his main passion is playing football with his three young boys.
