Symetrics wins BNP Paribas International Hackathon 2016 in London

After an intense weekend of coding, an eight person jury of international FinTech experts and banking executives selected Level39 member Symetrics as the winner of the BNP Paribas International Hackathon.

The theme of the hackathon, which took place in our events space, Space39, was ‘streamlining the customer Journey through co-creation with startups’.

Symetrics was tasked to create a game-changing solution to help BNP Paribas provide its customers with a consolidated view of their portfolio, and simulate investment scenarios to make optimal portfolio decisions.

Its response was The BetterTogether app, which provides asset managers, portfolio managers and private bankers with a smart digital toolbox to construct, stress test and optimise clients’ investment portfolios under macro-economic scenarios in a few steps.

The Symetrics team will now participate in an intensive four month Digital Bootcamp, where they will have access to experts and mentors from BNP Paribas to help develop the current solution, which was programmed with the Wolfram Language software.

After the four month development period, the Symetrics team will fly to Paris for ‘Demo Day’ and pitch the enhanced solution. All ‘Demo Day’ winners will then receive a letter of intent from BNP Paribas to implement the technology across the bank.

Symetrics’ founding partner Martijn van Eck commented: ‘It was an intensive, exciting and tough weekend; I am very proud that the team delivered an outstanding job to build the winning solution. We very much look forward to work with the BNP Paribas team in London. In addition, we now have the unique opportunity to potentially have our technology validated by the largest bank in Continental Europe’.
